ABOUT ME

Howdy, and welcome to my page.

My name is Rachel Shiffman. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA!

Here is a little about me and my journey as a performer.

As a child I was extremely energetic and so my parents put me into dance. This choice paved the way for everything that was to become my career and more!

My training began at a small ballet studio where we trained with conservatory structure. As I progressed I auditioned for the Performing Arts High School.

My training at Pebblebrook High School took place six to seven days a week learning various styles including: Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Musical Theatre, and HipHop. I also was able to study music and drama. With all three disciplines I began performing in musicals and other productions on a weekly basis. We were trained like professionals and the education I received is something I will always carry with me.

During my later years at the school I joined SOPAC (Steppin' Out Performing Arts Center), a competition dance studio. I was able to gain knowledge in arial arts, rhythm tap, contemporary, lyrical, and production style dance. Throughout my time with the studio I attended many dance conventions and was fortunate to bring home scholarships and won many titles.

I decided to continue my training at the University of Arizona, pursuing a BFA in Dance with a second degree in Judaic Studies and a certification in Middle Eastern Studies. My time at Arizona I was able to grow as an artist while studying under amazing faculty such as, Amy Ernst, Tammy Dyke-Compton, Elizabeth George, Doug Nielson, Michael Williams, Sam Watson, and more. I was also able to participating in the Arizona Jazz Dance Showcase Festival each year.

In 2017 I was very fortunate to perform Echad Mi Yodea, choreographed by Ohad Naharin. This inspired me to audition for the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company's intern program.

While learning with Kibbutz Contemporary and living in Israel I grew a passion for studying movement and artistry that blossomed into what I thought would be a budding career.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 halted a-lot of plans and I moved back home, but I persevered. I began training at the local talent agency XCEL Studios in Atlanta and was able to continue my training with industry professionals.

I began working with Atlanta Opera in productions like, West Side Story, La Traviata, and many more.

In Fall of 2021, I booked my first major TV show with HBO Max (now Max), The Staircase.

I have since been working in many capacities throughout the industry and want to continue my journey as an artist until my time comes where I can no longer.

When not in a studio or on a stage you may catch me line dancing or competing in country swing!

I love to perform and I hope to inspire others through this passion. I greatly appreciate you getting to know a little bit about me.

Call me, Beep me, if you wanna reach me.
